I'm quite the fan of
OBEY clothing, and a
HUGE, HUGE fan of
Shepard Fairey. If you are familiar with
OBEY then you must be [some-what] familiar with Shepard Fairey, or at least his
art. OBEY clothing was formed in 2001 as an extension of Shephard's range of work. It became another canvas to
spread his artwork and ideology in
self-empowerment. The clothing is heavily inspired by
punk rock & skateboard elements along with cultural movements Shepard has based his art career on.
OBEY has
quickly become a
popular clothing company, but it has always been
much more than just an apparel trend. If you find yourself wearing an
OBEY t-shirt, please
educate yourself, learn what it is you're supporting & expressing by wearing
Shepard Fairey's "andre the giant". I encourage you to watch the videos below!
If you live or happen to be in Orange County area next week,
OBEY will be having their
Fall/Winter warehouse sale! Ridiculously-cheap prices on
all things OBEY! Get there early, bring a book and your headphones... lines will be
extremely long but trust me, it is well
worth the wait. Please feel free to say hello!
(I'll be the blond that's running around... and no, I can't get you past the line, sorry!)
Below are a few photo's from OBEY's Holiday & Winter Lookbook.

Obey actually started out as a street art project called Obey Giant Street Art. While some think street art is better left to the streets, there are others who know what wearable art is an amazing form of expression. obey clothing
