Book Surgeon

The second I ran across the work of  Brian Dettmer, I knew I had to share it with you! His art consists of altering pre-existing books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and old medical journals,  by using various knives, tweezers, and surgical tools. First he manipulates the edges and spine to create a sculpture form, then one page at a time, he carefully performs a "surgery-like process" with a mind-blowing end result. Nothing was added or relocated, just removed. Crazy huh? He must have a lot of patience. To view more of his work, click here.
